MAYA Organization promotes the development of caring, competent, and healthy children and adults through counseling, prenatal education, and adoption services that are designed by mothers for mothers. This second Mary’s Pence Grant has helped MAYA develop programs for Bhutanese and Somali Bantu refugees, the two largest refugee communities in Pittsburgh. With the help of translators, MAYA made their prenatal parenting classes accessible and conducted an outreach campaign to identify women who would benefit from the program.
