Ayada Leads empowers all women, specifically first and second-generation East African immigrants, to become engaged citizens and community leaders, regardless of political affiliation. With the goal of preparing women with the skills to exercise the power of their voice and ensure that they are prepared for a complex and connected world, Ayada Leads developed a training program called the Dumar Leadership Model that is designed to help participants break social and systemic barriers that prevent civic participation. Training modules include topics such as mentors and mentoring, financial literacy, and networking. As a third-time grantee, Ayada Leads will continue their work in civic engagement while adding advocacy for criminal justice reform.
