Low-wage workers are often more susceptible to wage theft and labor trafficking. This is especially true for industries where women are the majority of workers like domestic work, childcare work, and the service industry. Responding to the need for support of survivors of labor trafficking and wage theft in Miami-Dade County, Advocacy Partners Team formed in 2016 to empower women to overcome obstacles and abuses so they can pursue their dreams in communities of hope. Advocacy Partners Team provides free consultation, representation, or referrals to survivors of workplace abuses. To help prevent these abuses from happening, Advocacy Partners Team began advocacy work focused on engaging low-income women in policy change and educating the community about the issue.
